Action Against Hunger

Sid Sloane is a supporter of the charity Action Against Hunger - Action Against Hunger is an international humanitarian organisation committed to saving the lives of malnourished children and their families in over 40 countries worldwide. One of the leading organisations in the fight against hunger and malnutrition, our teams provide for people’s immediate needs when food is scarce and provide families with the tools, seeds and support they need to build a sustainable future.

He is currently involved with their schools campaign The International Run Against Hunger. This is a sponsored run that gives Schools the opportunity to come together and to help save the lives of other children that are affected by hunger across the world. Last year, over 740 schools worldwide took part and 2,000 children across the UK raised over £100,000 for Action Against Hunger

As part of the Run Against Hunger pupils also have the opportunity to learn more about Global Hunger via an Action Against Hunger film on their programmes around the world and also Lesson Plans specifically designed in conjunction with the National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2 - that will engage pupils in learning about the severity of global hunger.

The run will show pupils how they can become part of the solution by fundraising to help children suffering from malnutrition. Not only will the children be exercising and having fun, which gives them confidence and builds self esteem, they also have the opportunity to learn about other children that live very different lives to them and to save future generations around the world!
