About the Author
Jane has been an archaeologist, a teacher, and a library assistant, but is now a full time children’s writer. She has around thirty published books, and more in the publishing pipeline, plus poems in many children’s anthologies, and reading scheme stories for Oxford Reading Tree and Collins Big Cats. Her award-winning picture books Stuck in the Mud and Gilbert the Great and Knight Time have been read on CBeebies. Jane is also lead writer for the popular OUP series Dinosaur Cove.
Jane loves to visit schools to share her books and talk about being an author, and to run poetry and/or creative writing workshops.
She often begins the day with an all-school poetry performance as an introduction, then she’s happy to see any/every class from Nursery through to Year 6.
She tailors her visit according to the age groups she will see and the teachers’ wishes.
Jane has also led sessions on creative writing at writing festivals and teachers’ conferences, and is happy to speak at parents’ evenings on how to help boost children’s creativity.

'Thank you SO SO SO much for such a brilliant visit. The feedback has been amazingly enthusiastic. The workshops really motivated the children and you managed to pitch them just right for each age group. Your poetry performances had everyone in fits, young and old. A really special day. '
Alton Convent School.
'Many, many thanks for your lovely visit. The teachers, parents and students have all sung your praises.'
International School of Brussels.
'The ISPrague Elementary School just had Jane Clarke for an author visit, and it ranks among the best we've had. The visit began with a very entertaining poetry performance for the entire elementary student body. Then she met with each grade level with a focus on writing. It was wonderful to see the students "buzzing" about the writing idea she started with them. Comments by teachers and students have praised Jane highly. And an added bonus...she's helpful with pre-organization details and easy to host.'
