Roy
Apps is the author of fifty children's books.
He also writes extensively for radio and TV. In 2001 he was awarded
a BAFTA for his children's television work which includes Byker
Grove, The Ghost Hunter and Barmy Aunt Boomerang. Roy is currently
Writer in Residence at the National Gallery, London.

(for Franklin Watts, launched in Spring 2007)
The Secret Summer of
Daniel Lyons (which won the Writers' Guild Children's Book Award
and was shortlisted for the Whitbread Awards) It is now a successful
musical.
School visits:
Roy visits schools,
libraries, bookshops and Arts Festivals to read from his books
and to share the secrets of The Shed in Your Head (For
Y2 - Y9, Group size up to 200). An interactive session about the
magic and power of stories, where they come from and how you can
make them come alive.
Roy also runs Writing
Projects for all ages. These can range in length from a morning
to long-term residencies. He has recently worked with:
- Year 5 classes - producing a BOOK
- Year 10 students - creating a STAGE PLAY
- Year 5 & 6 classes - making a 20' FILM
- Year 3 to 6 classes - creating performance POETRY
- Year 5 classes - creating an OPERA LIBRETTO
