David James

David James

David James blends traditional tales, ancient legends, urban myths, improvisation and wit into a seamless and sparkling delivery for Storytelling, training or education. He is a member of Equity, National Association of Writers in Education, Creative Education and a Freeman of London.

Based on the coast of South West UK, but prepared to travel anywhere. His roots are Welsh, his accent English, his voice brown and his hair receding!

An ex English and drama teacher (Disney Teacher of the Year SW 1997) he turned to full time writing and performing – Making Words Work – in 2000 – A new life for the new millennium which still leaves him not enough time for walks on the beach.

David works as a performance storyteller in schools, heritage sights, libraries, hospitals, museums, festivals, pubs, on radio and TV – and even at weddings. He is also sought after as a teacher educator and as a Creative Writing facilitator. He has authored articles and courses on storytelling, on educational issues and practice and written his own fiction for teen readers; his audio recordings are much in demand.

Each performance is tailored to its audience – Storyteller David James does it differently every time!
