Book Reviews:

POEMS WITH ATTITUDE

"It is rare and welcome to find a collection that speaks so directly to teenagers."

The Guardian

"I cannot emphasise how much every school needs this."

School Librarian

MAD, BAD & DANGEROUSLY HADDOCK, the best of A.F.P

"A highly original voice. Fusek Peters never fails to engage. This is a poet who doesn't duck from more serious issues {bullying, weapons of war, death}, but also delights in linguistic twists and turns. Often hard-hitting, sometimes accusingly gentle, here are poems that will touch the heart and prick the conscience. There's also much to entertain and amuse. A very good collection indeed."

Carousel

"Will please his multitude of fans"

Adele Geras, Armadillo

HERE'S A LITTLE POEM

"This lovely book deserves a place in every playgroup and child's library"

Sunday Times, Children's Book Of The Week

"Fabulous!"

Daily Telegraph

School Visits:

KS1/KS2

Andrew performs mad and lyrical poems from his books {including Mad, Bad & Dangerously Haddock, the two OUP collections Spies Unlimited and Ghosts Unlimited) spiced up with daring didgeridoo playing {plus a free lesson in circular breathing} and some very bad juggling {well, not that bad actually}.

He also talks about the thrilling adventure novels Roar! Bull! Roar! and Falcon's Fury {Frances Lincoln} and the new Skateboard Detective series. This is followed by a book signing and can also lead to a poetry workshop/s with a smaller group up to class size.

KS3/KS4

Andrew performs to a whole year group using extracts from the Carnegie long-listed Poems With Attitude and its best-selling follow up Poems With Attitude Uncensored {Now recorded for the Poetry Archive} as well as the verse novel Crash and the anthology Love, Hate, My Best Mate. He also talks about the exciting new thriller series Skateboard Detectives. He has tried to re-write the rule book that says poetry is boring and that there is no such thing as teenage poetry. Performances round the country, mixed in with that old didgeridoo and wicked juggling have gone down a storm. This is followed by questions and a master class with a smaller group in either poetry or fiction.

Responses to Andrew’s visits to schools:

"A fabulous performance! Both kids and staff have been talking about it ever since, and the corridors are filled with lounging kids reading copies of Poems With Attitude {no kidding!}. We had a stampede of excited kids claiming their signed copies yesterday, and every book of your has gone out on loan from the library. What better affirmation can you have than that?"

Barber Turner, Librarian, Kings Langley Secondary School

"Thank you so much for your amazing efforts. The whole place was buzzing with poetry and the impact you made will I'm sure be long lasting."

Steve Blackman, Head, Great Alne Primary School

"The issues you discussed were invaluable. Your presentation was the best PHSE session I have ever witnessed."

Jean Smedley, Deputy Head, Streetly School

"Fantastic!"

Veronica Raymond, St Christopher School

Hilary Brimson, Hollywood Primary School, Birmingham

"The most outstanding poet you could get to work with students in school and I recommend him without reservation."

Eileen Armstrong, LRC manager, Cramlington High School

"Thank you for coming to St Giles. You were inspirational! In particular, it was great to have such an enthusiastic male role model for the boys, who weren't overly keen on poetry previously. By the end of our poetry fortnight, there was a real poetic buzz about the place"

Kate Linnel, St Giles CE primary
